Meet Jared

My Story

Jared D. Hager is the founder of Hager Law PLLC. His career spans sophisticated private practice, federal public service, appellate litigation and complex civil-rights enforcement.

Jared began his legal career clerking for Judge Ronald M. Gould of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. After practicing at Kirkland & Ellis, he spent approximately nine years with Perkins Coie in Seattle, ultimately becoming a Senior Attorney.

In private practice, Jared defended several nine-figure disputes arising from commercial satellite failures, obtaining dismissal of claims and awards of attorneys' fees and costs in international arbitrations. He was part of the representation that recovered $267 million for the Tennessee Valley Authority from international insurers. His work also included complex litigation arising from aviation incidents, risk management and regulatory compliance.

In 2015, Jared joined the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Oregon as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Civil Division and served as Affirmative Civil Rights Coordinator. His practice included federal civil-rights enforcement, appellate litigation, tort and constitutional claims, employment matters and other federal civil litigation.

He later joined the Civil Rights Division's Special Litigation Section, where his work included police-practices investigations, enforcement of police-reform consent decrees, FACE Act matters, disability issues and constitutional questions.

Jared earned his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, graduating first in a class of 237 and serving as an Articles Editor of the Minnesota Law Review. He also taught Advanced International Commercial Arbitration as an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law.
